Metro-System of the Basque Country

Das Metro-System ist ziemlich einfach, da es hier nur 2 Linien gibt, die Bilbao mit seinen Vororten verbindet. Die Automaten sind zum Glück auch auf Englisch, die ausliegenden Fahrpläne entweder auf Spanisch bzw. Baskisch.

The Metro System is pretty easy to unterstand, because there are only 2 lines, which connects Bilbao to its suburb. Fortunately the ticket machines are in English as well, the time tables are only in Basque or Spanish.

 Mir wurde eine "Barik" Karte empfohlen, die 3 € kostet und die man mit Geld aufladen kann. Vor der Fahrt hält man die Karte an einen Schalter, der die Fahrten dann pro Zone abrechnet. Mit dieser Karte ist es ebenfalls möglich, die Straßenbahn (Tranvia) soewie die Busse zu benutzen.

Me was given the advice to choose a "Barik" Card, which costs 3 € and can be used like a credit card. Before you take the train, you have to put the card on the counter, which deducts the amount from your card. With the card it is also possible to use the tram (Tranvia) and busses.

Auch die Straßenbahn Tranvía hat nur eine Linie, die an zwischen Atxuri im Osten bis La Casilla im Westen entlang des Flusses Ría del Nervión verbindet.

Also the tram Tranvía has only 1 line, which is moving between Atxuri in the East to La Casilla in the West along the river Ría del Nervíon.

Für Touristen ist es also eine recht günstige Variante mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel die Stadt zu erkunden. Auf Dauer ist es als Student jedoch ziemlich teuer, wenn man ca. 2 - 3 mal am Tag (zur Uni, danach an den Strand und abends zu Freunden)  fährt, sind schnell mal 3,28 € weg.

For tourists it is a cheap way to explore the city with the public transport. But using it some month it could be really expensive, if you use it 2 - 3 time per day for example.

Außerdem gibt es einen Bus der Biskaya-Linie, der einen recht günstig in vom Flughafen Bilbao in die Stadt fährt. 
Besides there is a bus from the Biskaya Line, which drives you from the Bilbao airport into the city.
